MADSA Celebrates 20th Anniversary

MADSA celebrated it's 20th Anniversary on Friday, 20 October 2023 with a lunch at Yue Restaurant, Shraton PJ.

Those who attended were several Member companies' Country Heads and Council Members.

Guests of Honour were:

1. Datuk Dr. Rajbans Singh, Consultant Geriatrician and President of Wellness Society
2. Mr. Ch'ng Kien Peng, President of Malaysian Organisation of Pharmaceutical Industry
   

It was a great opportunity for those who attended to network amongst themselves and meet new friends.

Current President of MADSA, Dato' Dr. Rajen reminised in his address that MADSA was set up 20 years ago due to the manufacturing quality crisis created by Pan Labs in Australia in 2003. 

MADSA was created to fight for and safeguard Malaysian consumers by advocating for high quality and safe supplements. It was created by just 5 companies.

Today, MADSA has 44 companies that represent local & foreign retail brands, local & foreign MLM brands and marketing agencies of supplements.

Rajen also highlighted that MADSA is embarking on a project to influence the Government to include supplements into the Lifestyle Income Tax Rebate. 

The rationale is that people who are disciplined and take care of their health are not incentivitized in any way. And those who are negligent in taking care of themselves are given free treatment at government hospitals.

There are other projects that MADSA will be embarking on. Two that are high on the priority list are:

• Removal of SST on supplements
• Imort duty exemption on supplements and ingredients

MADSA welcomes all supplements companies operating in Malaysia and overseas that intend to operate in Malaysia to become Members.
